Climate Risk
Catalina’s U.S. insurers are in run-off and not actively issuing and renewing any policies. None of this run-off business is for property lines of coverage. As a result, the Catalina U.S. insurers have very limited exposure to liabilities from climate risk and related catastrophes such as flood and fire. With respect to company investments, state deposits are highly regulated, and reserves are maintained subject to governing law. Surplus investments are closely managed by highly regarded in-house and independent professionals with up-to-date knowledge of climate risk and how to factor that into investment management decisions.
